How is RF microneedling different from other radiofrequency treatments?
Most other RF treatments deliver this energy to the surface of the skin. RF microneedling delivers RF energy below the skin surface to enhance collagen production and skin cell regeneration.
What is the difference between regular microneedling verse RF microneedling?
While traditional microneedling works by damaging the surface layer of the skin to trigger healing, RF microneedling employs radiofrequency waves and heat to increase your collagen levels without harming your skin.
Does the RF microneedling procedure hurt?
We pride ourselves on providing quality treatments with minimal patient discomfort and little downtime. A topical numbing agent is applied to the treatment area prior to the procedure to minimize pain.
The microneedling device contains ultrafine, very sharp, sterile needles that puncture the skin which causes only minimal damage to the skin. The microneedles do not cause permanent damage to the skin. However, we here at Visage' MEDISPA want you to be comfortable your practioner will apply a topical numbing cream to the areas to be treated 30-45 minutes before your procedure.
RF Microneedling After Care
The treated areas will be red and swollen and this will last for 2-3 days, depending on the intensity settings. Sensations of burning or stinging are uncommon but may last for 1-2 days. The skin will develop a rough sandpaper-like texture, which lasts about one week. In areas off the face, it is common to have a faint grid-like pattern of small dark dots for up to 2-3 weeks. Make-up can be applied after the first day to cover redness. Swimming, hot tubs, activities causing heavy sweating and any friction to the skin should be avoided until the skin returns to normal. Most people will not require any time off work or studies.
Swelling and redness is normal; it will subside 1-2 hours and diminish for the most part in 24 hours.
Rinse the treated area with lukewarm/cool water within the first 24 hours.
After the first day, you may use a gentle cleanser to clean the area for the following 72 hours.
Avoid scratching the treated area (including itching and crusting).
Do not apply any makeup or sunscreen for 24 hours after treatment.
After the first day, apply a broad spectrum non-chemical sunscreen (at least SPF 30) for the next 2 weeks.
After 24-72 hours, patients may resume their regular skincare routines. Use retinol products to enhance results.
Avoid alcohol-based toners, inflammatory medicines, and prolonged sun exposure for 2 weeks.
Avoid spicy, seafood and other skin-stimulating foods within a week, and avoid tobacco and alcohol.
Refrain from touching the treated area; if you must, ensure your hands are clean.
